Char-coupe-terie Cups
Cute as ever, these little Char-coupe-terie Cups are a great use for leftover charcuterie items or other small snacks! All you need are a few coupe glasses and a little imagination! You could use any type of clear glass or cup; I just love these vintage coupe glasses my mother in law gave me years ago.
You don’t need alot of items to make these cups look and taste great. What a plus! A typical charcuterie board can be quite expensive, requiring a good amount of meats, cheeses, fruits, nuts and breads or crackers. I assembled the coupes pictured with leftover items I had in my fridge. And anytime I serve these Char-coupe-terie Cups, people just love them! Each person gets their own coupe, each item is bite sized and easy to eat. And they are easy for me to put together, so it is a win-win situation for all!
Since it is technically charcuterie, I wanted to use a little meat, although you don’t have to. I started with a few thin slices of salami that I rolled up and secured with a toothpick to resemble a flower. I then added all the items of a typical board: cheese, crackers, nuts, fruits. You are only limited by your imagination on this one!
A small challenge is to get the cheese and crackers to stand up properly. This is easily done by filling the bottom of the cup with nuts or berries as a base. Then simply layer the rest of the ingredients starting with the largest pieces and fill in the open spots with what is left.
Here’s what I did:
- Prep the items – Fold a few thin slices of hard salami in half. Arrange them slightly overlapping on a plate. Roll them up tightly and secure the bottom with a small toothpick. Slice cheddar and jalapeno jack cheese into small triangles. Take a 4″ wooden pick and layer mozzerella balls with cherry tomatoes. For each pick I used two mozzerella balls and one cherry tomato.
- Create the foundation: Take the empty coupe glasses and add spiced nuts to the bottom, along with a few blueberries. Place a long cracker or two in the back of the glass, with a few pieces of cheese in front of the crackers. Put the salami in the front part of the glass. Use berries and grapes to secure in place.
- Layer remaining goodies: Add the mozzerella tomato skewer, the strawberries, additional crackers, fruit and pretzels. Just move things around as you are layering to get the desired look, keeping the long crackers in the back for height and the salami in front for a focal point. Garnish with mint.
Here’s what I used:
You can literally use anything you like from your fridge or pantry! And as I said, you don’t need a ton of ingredients to end up with a delicious and beautiful appetizer or snack! Here is what I used for these Char-coupe-terie Cups:
- La Panzenella Original Mini Artisan Crackers
- Boar’s Head Thin Sliced Hard Salami
- Baum’s Sweet Heat Fried Pecans
- Sharp Cheddar Cheese, sliced
- Jalapeno Jack Cheese, sliced
- Crunch Master Multigrain Crackers
- Milk Chocolate covered pretzels
- BelGioioso Fresh Mozzerella Pearls
- Grape Tomatoes
- Fresh strawberries, blueberries, green and red grapes
- Fresh mint for garnish
Although the above list may look lengthy, all of these items were already in my pantry or refrigerator. I just grabbed them and put them all in the coupes. You can do the same! Enjoy!
